Del Cerro is bordered on the east by Mission Trails Regional Park & San Carlos, on the west by Mission Valley, and on the south by Interstate 8 and San Diego State University. Called the Hill by its residents, Del Cerro is an enclave of single family homes.

Del Cerro real estate is centered in the hills above Mission Trails Regional park, enjoying sweeping views of canyons and distant mountain landscapes. Many homes were built in the 1950s and have architectural charm and character. Landscaping is well maintained and front and back yards are large.

The neighborhood has another small park, a private school, and public schools part of the San Diego City School District. Residents are exposed to classes and events sponsored by the State school. Traveling a short distance east to Mission Valley affords shoppers an overwhelming variety of shopping including an Ikea, a Lowe’s Home Improvement, K-Mart, Target, and two large shopping malls. There are also three local movie theatres, two grocery stores, and a wide variety of dining choices.
