Ramona is located 55 miles northeast of San Diego in the foothills of the Cuyamaca Mountains. Ramona residents are family oriented, hold traditional values, and keep a friendly community. Pride drove Ramona citizens to line Main Street years ago with eucalyptus trees, hand watering them during growth. Ramona real estate is comprised of mansions, ranchettes, upscale subdivisions, and countryside single family homes. Much of this land carries avocado and citrus groves, chicken farms, and dairies. Also of plenty are some world class thoroughbred horse farms, that breed and train horses.

Ramona Unified School District has 9 schools ranking in the 70th to 90th percentile in the state. Some schools have portable classrooms, indicating a growth in student population. Palomar Community Colleges offers classes at the local high school and also at its campus in nearby San Marcos. Kids enjoy Baseball, Girls Softball, Football, Soccer, Horseback Riding, Karate, Dance Studios, and the Boys and Girls Club.

Old Town Ramona offers antique stores, restaurants, the refurbished Mainstage Theatre, the Woodward museum, featuring early western culture, and Ramona’s original Town Hall. Activities around the town and county include several wineries, horseback riding, two golf courses, several parks, fishing and other water recreations in 4 nearby lakes, hiking in the Cuyamaca Mountains, and camping in the Anza Borrego desert. There is a large rodeo in May, calling competitors from all over the county. Country Fair Days come in August. Ramona’s airport offers charter service and instruction, and is the home of The Ramona Air Attack Base fire fighting squadron. Commute to Downtown San Diego is hectic during rush hour. Jobs are local and just west in Escondido or east along Interstate 15 in Rancho Bernardo.
